Love Candy by Kendra the Curve

With 3 speeds and 4 functions, the Curve is made from pure silicone and is designed to fit in the curve of your hand, not to mention the curves of your body.Celebrity endorsements and product branding is nothing new. I remember several years ago when it seemed like every week some famous person, from pop star divas to pro soccer players, came out with their own line of perfume or cologne. And now with more and more mainstream acceptance of sex toys, a whole new market for the entrepreneurial-minded is wide open.

I initially requested a Love Candy by Kendra the Curve (more long names, grr) from EdenFantasys because I liked the shape, and I was curious about the silicone ridges. I seem to have gradually developed a preference for clit vibes with a tapered tip, but I didn’t have any with texture. And even though I’d rather use something that’s rechargeable, a battery-powered vibe is nice to have around on backup for those times when I forget to recharge my We-Vibe Touch or Leaf Life.

Love Candy by Kendra the Curve PackagingI didn’t notice that it was part of a special, semi-famous person‘s collection until I took a more careful look at the product page, and for some reason I got confused, thinking of the OhMiBod‘s Bedroom Kandi toys. But no, these Love Candy by Kendra products are from Evolved, and I typically have good luck with their vibrators. Granted, I wasn’t crazy about the Silicone Bendable Rose, but I still like my Croupier, and the Honey Bunny motors had plenty of power. Well, they did before I removed them. But I digress…

As for the Curve, the shape fits me well. The silicone has a soft surface, with some skin drag and a tendency to attract dirt, but I quite like the raised ridges along the tip’s underside. The top also has ridges, presumably for decoration, but there’s no law against holding that side against you as well. It feels to me like instead of being made from silicone all the way through, it’s just an outer sleeve. I say this because I can grab the tip and move it around on top of whatever it’s covering, which is firm underneath, like plastic.

Love Candy by Kendra the Curve Vibrator Curve comes in a pretty cool little storage case that wants you to think it’s leather. Whether it actually is or not I don’t know. There’s a paper label wrapped around it, and instead of having separate user instructions, all that information is printed on the underside. This vibe is also waterproof, as nearly all sex toys are nowadays, so it’s easy to clean.

I appreciate the simple controls. There’s an on/off button on one side of the battery compartment cap, and a function button to cycle through the settings on the other. These buttons are fairly small, but they’re raised and “clicky” enough to be easily found. They do require some pressure, though, which means you don’t have to worry about accidentally bumping them, but pushing them with slick fingers can be tricky.

Love Candy by Kendra the Curve Battery Compartment CapThe battery compartment cap is easy enough to remove, but getting it back on is a nightmare. Certain things have to line up just so and then twist, only I can’t ever get it positioned right and it takes me a frustrating amount of time just to get batteries installed. Hopefully all that effort means the battery compartment is well sealed up and totally waterproof, because sex toys should not be this hard.

I’m also disappointed with Curve’s weak, buzzy vibrations, and while the motor isn’t particularly loud, I think it makes more noise than it should, considering the lack of power. That, and it sounds really annoying, like a gnat flying around very close to my ear.

Love Candy by Kendra the Curve MeasurementsPowered by 2 AAA batteries, the motor has 3 speeds of constant vibration and 7 different patterns. Please don’t make me name them all. They’re variations of pulses, and a few seem kind of random and impossible to accurately describe. Okay, I’m being lazy here, but frankly, I don’t want to hold this vibe against me any more. At least not when it’s turned on. Since that’s kind of the point, this vibe was a fail for me.

As a sex toy connoisseur (allow me this delusion of grandeur), I can’t help thinking that manufacturer resources might be better applied towards research and development if this is what a celebrity endorsement gets me. But hey, everybody is different, and there might be some people out there who like less power and more buzzy-ness, so don’t take just my word for it.
