Front of DVD Case

Apart from the brief shoutout to Matinee I posted on my Tumblr months ago, I have yet to review an adult video. Not because I have anything against porn, but mostly because I’m seriously picky about what I watch, and I don’t like the vast majority of the mainstream stuff.

In addition to the titillation factor, I often use porn as a source of inspiration and to learn something new, so I need to be convinced that all partners are genuinely enjoying themselves, not just cycling through requisite positions to fill the scene.

Thankfully, Vivid Ed has a DVD series of “Expert Guides” that covers a wide range of topics including, but not limited to, fellatio, threesomes, anal sex, and female orgasms. These titles are highly informative, women-friendly, and sex positive, and Babeland was nice enough to send me a copy of Tristan Taormino’s Expert Guide to Female Orgasms to review.

Tristan Taormino's Expert Guide to Female Orgasms Adult DVD Review

Back of DVD Case

Directed and presented by Tristan Taormino, this DVD also stars Jiz Lee, Adrianna Nicole, Dylan Ryan, Evanni Solei, Katie St. Ives, Madison Young, James Deen, Mr. Marcus, Sean Michaels, and Evan Stone. If you don’t watch much porn, those names most likely won’t mean anything to you, but they’re top performers who are well paired, so the scenes are super hot.

The DVD begins with a thorough discussion of female pleasure by Tristan Taormino, in which she describes the different phases of arousal and the many ways those stages can vary depending on the woman. She also covers oral sex, manual stimulation, the use of sex toys, how to stimulate the G-spot, and anal sex.

The adult performers intermittently chime in to share their experiences, and visual aids including helpful diagrams of female anatomy and an oversized vagina puppet are also incorporated into the presentation. But the first thing I noticed was the excellent selection of sex toys on the table in front of Tristan as she’s talking, and I couldn’t help trying to identify as many of them as possible.

After Taormino’s presentation there are five scenes, each one featuring a different couple, and in every scene the focus is on the woman’s pleasure. Before the start of each scene are introductory interviews with the performers, wherein they talk about their masturbation habits, porn preferences, the different types of orgasms they experience, what sort of stimulation they like, their favorite sex toys, and the easiest way to make them orgasm.

Once the scenes start there’s no background music, so we get to hear the performers’ voices, moans, and other sounds, except for when the Hitachi Magic Wand’s noise drowns it all out. (Somebody is working on developing a muffler for that thing, right?)

Rather than just show close-up shots of two different sets of genitalia banging against each other, the camera is often focused on the woman’s face, catching her reactions to whatever her partner is doing to her. Don’t worry though, there are enough close-ups and wide-angle shots so you don’t feel like you’re missing anything.

I love that each scene shows the couples actively communicating and incorporates the use of sex toys. I’m very impressed with the production quality and the performers, as it’s obvious that the couples really enjoy working with each other. I also love the fact that the women have very natural bodies, and a few even have pubic hair. So it does still exist!

Rather than just give us behind-the-scenes footage, the DVD bonus features also include a tutorial on how to do Kegel exercises, a masturbation montage, safer sex information, and a vibrator guide, so Tristan Taormino’s Expert Guide to Female Orgasms is very comprehensive.

But the bottom line here is that every woman achieves orgasms differently, and there’s no right or wrong way to climax. In addition to understanding basic female anatomy and how it works, women need to masturbate and learn their own personal stimulation preferences so they can effectively guide their partners.

Another 365 days have passed, during which I’ve had the pleasure to review many different types of sex toys and adult products. Due to the wide variety, I’ve compiled my Top 10 of 2011 list by category, selecting my favorite product in each.

On 4 Her Arousal OilThis year I tested quite a few arousal products. These are typically only good for as long as their novelty value lasts, but the On 4 Her arousal oil and Shunga Divine Pleasure Lip Gloss exceeded my expectations. They’re both effective, and I continued to use them until I ran out. I’m going to have to pick the On 4 Her since it directly increases my arousal, but the Shunga Lip Gloss is also worth having.
Best Arousal Product: On 4 Her

HapPenis HatsSpeaking of novelty, I had a lot of fun reviewing HapPenis Hats and a Penis Cupcake Pan. While the cupcake pan may seem way more useful than designer penis hats, I’m still kinda bitter about slicing my thumb open on its sharp edge. Also, I wear the HapPenis Hats as ponytail holders more often than I bake penis-shaped cupcakes. Plus, I’m a sucker for a clever name.
Best Novelty Item: HapPenis Hats

Sliquid Oceanics Personal LubricantI discovered two really nice lubes this year, and I had a hard time deciding which one to pick. Ultimately, Sliquid Oceanics won over LELO Personal Moisturizer. It’s made from all natural, body safe ingredients. Pus, it’s thicker than the LELO lube and doesn’t have a bitter taste.
Best Lube: Sliquid Oceanics

In 2011 there were three glass dildos that really impressed me, so I had a hard time choosing between the Icicles No. 12Icicles No. 21, and Bent Graduate. I love how No. 12′s beautiful rosebud gives me such a nice sense of fullness, and when not otherwise occupied, it looks so lovely on top of bookcase. The size and shape of No. 21 works really well for me, and it’s another favorite.

Don Wands Bent Graduate Glass DildoBut the Bent Graduate is double-ended, making it more versatile. And its modest size means it’s better for when I may not have the time to work up to using a bigger toy. Plus, it comes with a padded storage pouch. The Icicles don’t. But my beloved No. 21 is a very close second.
Best Nonvibrating Sex Toy: Bent Graduate

I got to try lot of clitoral stimulators this year, and a few really stood out. First, let me give props to a couple of truly unique and innovative clit vibes: LELO’s Insignia Lyla with its SenseMotion technology, and the hands-free FixSation couple’s vibrator. I love that we’re seeing more sex toys designed for couples to use together, thereby enhancing the experience for both partners.

As for the best clit vibe of the year, that was a tough call. Buzzlet is a powerful, waterproof, and rechargeable bullet, but it’s made from hard plastic and its buttons can be hard to press. The Little Secret Kissfrom Tantus is fun and great for pinpoint stimulation, but it only has one speed. Je Joue’s MiMi is powerful, rumbly, waterproof, rechargeable, and covered in lovely silicone, but it also has tricky buttons.

LELO Siri VibratorLELO’s Siri, on the other hand, is my current favorite clit vibe. The buttons are easy, the business end is covered with a lovely velvety silicone, and the vibrations are powerful and rumbly with plenty of speed and pattern options. I only wish it was waterproof.
Best Clit Vibe: LELO Siri

LELO GigiI tried out three really good G-spot vibes this year: Je Joue’s G-KiLELO’s Gigi, and the Starlet Toyfriend. As cool as I think it is that the G-Ki is adjustable, it loses points for skin drag and being a lint magnet, whereas Starlet and Gigi both have a nicer surface feel.

Starlet is a great vibe, and the head’s shape works really well for me, but it takes batteries, and the shaft is straight. Gigi’s head has a similar shape, but the shaft is curved which I like better. Plus, it’s rechargeable, powerful, and has more vibration settings, so I’m giving it top G-Spot vibe even though it’s not waterproof.
Best G-spot Vibe: LELO Gigi

Papaya Tattoo StrawberryLet’s not forget the classics. If I had to pick between the Papaya Tattoo StrawberryTwilite WandMeany, and RO-160 Bullet, I’d definitely go with the Papaya Tattoo. All of the above take batteries, and while Meany is covered in a lovely silicone, it’s not as powerful and rumbly as my Papaya Tattoo. The Twilite Wand comes close, but it’s smooth plastic, and I prefer Tattoo’s silicone.
Best Classic-Style Vibe: Papaya Tattoo Stawberry

Jopen Vanity Vr10Everyone knows how much I love dual stimulation (aka rabbit-style) vibes. Some notable ones I reviewed this year include the Bimini FlashGee Whiz (this is an attachment for the Hitachi Magic Wand), and Tantus Elements Delta. But the Jopen Vanity Vr10 is hands-down the winner. And not just because it has a cute little bunny on it. It’s also rechargeable, waterproof, rumbly and very powerful, plus you can adjust the range of motion in its shaft rotation. This is still my new favorite rabbit vibe.
Best Dual Stimulation Vibe: Jopen Vanity Vr10

Female Orgasms DVdI also had the pleasure of reviewing some great erotica and an educational DVD. While the books and Tristan Taormino’s Expert Guide to Female Orgasms are super hot, only the DVD is truly educational. It’s Tristan Taormino, after all, so you know it’s awesome.

I love lingerie, but I’m picky. The China Doll Chiffon Babydoll is a gorgeous set, but it didn’t suit me. I really liked Booty Parlor’s Foxy Bombshell panties, but they’re not exactly practical knickers to wear underneath clothes. At least not for any length of time.

Dreamgirl Reversible CorsetThe Dreamgirl Reversible Corset I recently reviewed, however, is lovely enough to wear as a top (wouldn’t it look nice with a black blazer?) while also being a comfortable and supportive–not to mention sexy!–undergarment. The thong I can do without, but I love the corset.
Best Lingerie: Dreamgirl Reversible Corset

What about you guys? I would love to hear about your favorite sex toys. I obviously can’t try every new vibe, and I’ll bet there are some fantastic ones out there. What do you think are the best adult products this year? Please comment and let me know. Oh, and if you don’t like my categories, feel free to make up your own.

Premium rechargeable silicone massager with multiple speeds and functionsJimmyjane is a luxury sex toy manufacturer, and in addition to vibrators their product line also includes massage stones, lotions, and candles. They’re responsible for the expensive “Form” massagers you may have heard of, as well as the Little Chroma vibes.

Ages ago, and by that I mean well over a year, after coveting anything Jimmyjane for a very long time, I finally had enough EdenFantasys.com gift cards and reward points saved up to get one of their luxury vibes.

Back then they had not yet released the Form 4, so it wasn’t even an option, and I had read several reviews reporting glitches and other issues with the Form 2 and Form 3. Also, I was really wanting something more versatile than a clit vibe, so I opted to get the Form 6. It’s rechargeable, waterproof, and it has two individually-controlled motors with many patterns and speeds. Finally, I was going to treat my lady bits to some real luxury! Or so I thought, but more on that later.

The Form 6 comes packaged in just a simple cardboard box that has pictures of the vibe on the front and back. Inside is the Form 6, its storage case/charging box (wrapped in plastic), power cable, and owner’s manual.

Like some other luxury rechargeable toys, Form 6 charges magnetically. There’s  a metal band around the smaller, curved end that meets up with little contact points in the molded bed of the charger base. Let me just say I love this setup. The charger base is discreet and doubles nicely as a storage box. Not knowing any better, I opened it upside-down when I took the photos.

The charger cable plugs into the bottom of the box, where there’s an indention so it rests flush and allows the whole box to sit level. We’re treated to a light show when the Form 6 first starts charging, with all four lights flashing, and then two staying lit while it’s plugged in. When removing Form 6 from its base, the lights will also let you know how much of a charge the vibe has: all four lights will light up when it’s fully charged, three lights when mostly charged, etc.

Apparently, there’s no way to overcharge the vibe, so you could conceivably leave it plugged in all the time. Since the storage box is nice and discreet, I would have no problem leaving this out on my nightstand, ready to go whenever I needed it.

Unfortunately though, that’s not going to happen because I don’t like my Form 6 very much. The reason I took so long to get this review done is because I felt like I should totally love this vibe. For months I clung to the hope that something would magically change the next time I used it. But that never happened. Instead I kept getting increasingly frustrated with the thing.

Jimmyjane Form 6 luxury vibrator sex toyJimmyjane Form 6 luxury vibrator sex toy

My main issue is with Form 6 is the buttons. Pretty much everything about them is wrong, from their placement to design. I can’t believe I didn’t even consider where the buttons are located when I chose this vibe. I mean, really. This is supposed to be a double-ended sex toy, so why would the manufacturer put the buttons on the end that’s apparently meant to be inserted? This means you have to remove the vibe in order to change settings.

But that issue is nothing compared to the challenge of actually finding and pushing the buttons. They’re merely little raised emblems on the shaft, and they’re very hard to press, especially with slippery fingers.

Jimmyjane Form 6 luxury vibrator sex toy

Basically, there are three buttons: a dot, a circle, and a squiggle mark, and they are very small. The dot controls the motor at the small end, the circle operates the motor at the larger end, and the squiggle changes the function. Pressing any button for two seconds turns the vibe on, and the lights will flash three times.

If any button is pushed for less than two seconds, the lights will still flash, but the motors won’t start. This is so it doesn’t get bumped and turned on accidentally. Considering that it lives inside its charging case I’m not so sure that would happen, even while traveling (because wouldn’t you travel with the case and cable too?) but it’s a thoughtful feature.

This is one of those vibes that remembers the power level and vibration setting from the last time it was used, and that’s where it starts when you turn it back on. There are five vibration speeds and six modes. Starting with constant vibration, hitting either the dot or circle increases the speed. Once the top speed is reached, pushing the button again turns that motor off. Push it to start the motor again at the lowest vibration intensity.

To move into the patterns, press the squiggle button. I love that the modes have names. There’s Oscillate, Reverberate, Thrum (that’s a new one on me, I had to look it up), Ripple, and Pulse, and the diagram below describes them better than I ever could. Notice that in some of these modes the motors are doing different things, and being able to adjust the intensity of each motor means there are plenty of stimulation options to play around with.

Jimmyjane Form 6 luxury vibrator sex toy patterns chart

If you ask me, it all gets rather complicated pretty quickly, and that’s on top of the trouble of finding and pressing the buttons. I’m fairly clumsy at the best of times, so I have no chance working these buttons with lubed-up fingers. The more I review sex toys, the more I appreciate user-friendly controls.

As for the vibrations themselves, the smaller end feels too buzzy. The other side is rumbly and more to my liking, but I expected a sex toy of this calibre to produce deep, powerful vibrations from both motors.

Another thing I don’t like about the Form 6 is its construction. The smaller end really isn’t something I enjoy inserting, even though it looks as though it might be good for G-spot stimulation, because of the metal band. The edges where it wraps around the silicone aren’t what I would call rough, but they’re not smooth either, and I don’t like the way that end feels inside me.

The larger end is no better. The shape doesn’t just not suit me, it’s actually uncomfortable. I’ve tried inserting it using different angles and positions, but it refuses to fit pleasurably inside me. There’s also an obvious seam, which was another disappointment.

It’s hard to accept that I could have bought two, if not three sex toys that I know I’d like–and have buttons I’d be able to press–for what I paid for this. I don’t care how cool the storage/charging box is, a good vibrator should be a pleasure to use, not an exercise in patience and frustration management.

Sadly, the Form 6 is a fail for me. The curved end’s metal band keeps me from wanting to insert it, and the vibrations are too buzzy for my clitoris. The larger end is fine for clitoral stimulation, if somewhat big, but the shape doesn’t work for me internally. Even though this is supposed to be a double-ended luxury vibrator, I can really only use it is as a clit vibe. So much for versatility.

Fully reversible lace overlay and satin corset with removable shoulder and garter straps, front hook and eye closure, lace-up back, matching thong and stockings.Over the past few months EdenFantasys.com has been adding a lot of new lingerie, and I was lucky enough to receive a Dreamgirl Reversible Blue Corset to review. This is actually a set consisting of the reversible corset, thong, AND thigh highs. Lingerie doesn’t always come with hosiery, so that’s definitely a bonus.

Like other lingerie I’ve reviewed from EdenFantasys, there’s no real packaging. The whole set comes wrapped in pink tissue paper, with the thigh highs sealed up in plastic and the stockings, thong, and tag are attached to the corset with plastic hang tags.

blue reversible corsetMade from polyester, this corset is a solid shiny blue with black trim on one side, and a black lace overlay covering the same shiny blue on the other side. The lace has an elegant embroidered kind of look to it, with embellished trim along the top and bottom of the corset.

All three pieces, the corset, thong, and stockings need to be hand washed in cold water and air dried. Frankly, this is a pain due to the lace overlay. My solution is to just be really careful and try not to get anything too dirty. At least the solid blue side is easier to clean.

blue side with measurements

The corset consists of two panels joined together by hook-and-eye closures up the front and lace-up ties down the back. This means that it’s possible for me to put this on by myself, but I can’t really cinch it up without help.

However, trying to fasten the hooks and eyes while wearing the corset blue-side out is a fiddly and challenging process, because you’re having to hook them from the opposite side. Thanks to the ties, there is some adjustability as the laces can open, adding up to another 5 inches in the back. When wearing this blue-side out, you’ll need to either tie up the back first or rethread the laces so the bow is on the outside.

According to the description on the product web page, the boning in this corset is metal. I was actually rather surprised to read that, as I assumed it was plastic because it’s still flexible and lightweight. I also love that both the shoulder straps, which I didn’t even realize this corset had until it was in my possession, and garter straps are removable, so there are several different ways you can wear this.

I’m not a huge fan of the shoulder straps. They attach really close to the armpit, and I think having them positioned closer in towards my shoulder blades would be more comfortable.

when in doubt, use a pillow as a modelgarter strapsbe carefully taking off the gartersslightly damagedlace up ties in back

Please be careful when removing the straps, as the hooks easily get caught in the embroidery trim. Now that particular thread is pulled out of shape beyond repair. But, at least it’s down at the bottom and not that noticeable.

As for sizing, I got a 32 because that’s my bra band size. I’m somewhere between a B and C cup (depending on the bra), and I don’t quite have enough to fill the allowed space in this corset. There aren’t any defined cups or underwires, just extra fabric cut to accommodate a heaving bosom, or something. Which I don’t have, so my boobs aren’t spilling over the top when I wear this.

matching thongNot that I expected to look like the model or anything, and the corset is a flattering shape since the boning helps hold you in. The corset length was fine for my torso, and for once the matching thong actually fits me. It’s just too bad the crotch on this thong is a bit wider than usual, especially with this fabric. I hate having a thick wad of material up my butt crack.

Honestly, a garment is only truly reversible if you can actually wear it comfortably inside-out, and while I’m happy to suffer the corset’s lace against my body for a few hours, I doubt I’ll be snipping off the tag and wearing the thong solid-side out.

G-spot curved glass dildo with ribbed shaft.I’ve had a Bent Graduate in my possession for a while now. I bought it ages ago with EdenFantasys points, most likely while they had it on sale or there was a contributor coupon on the go. It was actually the second glass toy I acquired after the Cyclone Wand, and I couldn’t wait to try it out.

At the time, I had yet to find my G-spot, and the reviews raved on about this toy and how it was such a fantastic G-spotter. But before I could even unpack it, other glass toys showed up that had to be reviewed first, so for months my poor Bent Graduate sat stashed away in my sex toy box, still bundled up in its original packaging, which is simply an oversized plastic clamshell tube, but at least it was cushioned by its padded storage pouch.

Bent Graduate PackagingBy the time I finally got around to testing my Bent Graduate, I’d already reviewed a few glass G-spot sex toys, including my beloved Icicles No. 21, so I knew I liked a curved shaft and bulbous tip, but Bent Graduate differs from the others in that it is double ended, has a more drastic bend, and is more modestly sized.

This would make an ideal first glass G-spot toy, because you get two very different types of stimulation. There’s the smooth, curved end with its teardrop shaped tip for targeting the G-spot, and the curve allows you to easily apply pressure. Alternatively, there’s the straight end, with three bulbous ridges for some cool texture that feel so good when they’re slowly sliding in and out.

Length-wise, it’s a just under 7 inches, and with a diameter of only 1 1/4 inches, the girth is a non-intimidating 4 inches. As is the case with all glass toys, this one is great for temperature play and compatible with all types of lube, and easy to care for. Just pay attention to the groves in between those ridges when cleaning. Residue loves to get caught in there.

Bent Graduate measurementsBent Graduate Tips

The curved end is very effective at stimulating the G-spot with pressure, by gentle prodding and using a rocking motion. But I must say that while the G-spot shape is what initially appealed to me, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like the straight end. Which I prefer on any given day depends on my mood. There are times when I start out with one, then move on to the other, and sometimes might even switch back again. At other times I stick with the same end, and on the rare days when I need a bit more size, the Bent Graduate is a great one to warm-up with before moving on to bigger toys.

Wow. It’s December already. It feels like 2011 has passed by insanely quickly, and for me it’s no different to any other year in that I haven’t even started my holiday shopping yet. Pathetic, I know, but I’m terrible at making decisions and I’m a major procrastinator. Speaking of shopping, though…

I happen to have a $25 gift card to Babeland at my disposal. As much as I would love to put it towards a new sex toy or some more of that fantastic Sweet Beauty Chocolate Body Cream, since it’s the season of giving and all, I’d rather pass that gift card on to one of you. This way, you can use it to get something you really want that maybe nobody else would buy for you. Entering is easy, thanks to the handy Rafflecopter widget. Good luck!

Rachel Rabbit is Rarin' to Go Erotica Book ReviewEarlier this month I received an email from Jillian Black, the author of Rachel Rabbit is Rarin’ to Go! This is a fun book about the sexual adventures of a woman named Felicia and her rabbit vibrator named Rachel. The sex scenes aren’t the hottest I’ve read, but I love the lighthearted tone, complete with a little comedy and some clever puns.

The book opens with Rachel being shipped from the sex toy warehouse out to Felicia, who manages to establish a telepathic connection with her new vibe, enabling them to communicate and understand each other. This ability of theirs allows for some funny moments and reminds me of that Steve Martin movie The Man With Two Brains. Perhaps that’s why I found this book to be more amusing than arousing. Still, there are some good sex scenes, as each chapter describes a different encounter.

Felicia herself is a very successful and ambitious business women, who is also extremely attractive, so she doesn’t suffer from a lack of sexual opportunities. Nor is she afraid of her sexuality, and she’s free to openly enjoy it. I love this! It tears through the whole notion that only desperate women who can’t get a man resort to using vibrators.

Felicia grows very fond of Rachel and ends up taking the sex toy with her everywhere. As the book title suggests, the rabbit vibe is always eager and willing to join in on whatever activity Felicia gets up to, with the exception of one rather daunting partner. Since Rachel is used while Felicia is having sex with other people, the stories show how vibes are there to enhance partner sex, not replace it.

Right from the beginning, the descriptions of Rachel made me try and guess which model rabbit vibe she was supposed to be, as she sounded a lot like Jopen’s Vanity Vr10. At the very end of the book, we find out that Rachel is in fact a Vanity vibe, and there’s a handy coupon code to save some money if you want to order one for yourself.

PicoBong Kiki vibrator sex toyBabeland sent me a PicoBong Kiki to review. For anyone not yet familiar with these new sex toys, PicoBong is a recently launched division of LELO. Only this product line is marketed to a younger crowd (not that us old folks can’t enjoy them too), with more budget-friendly pricing, simpler packaging, and fun designs in cool colors. I really like that LELO has developed this new product line, because not everyone can afford their luxury pleasure objects.

There are six different designs to choose from, and the Kiki reminds me of a scaled-down Starlet or LELO Gigi because the tip shape is very similar on all three vibes. Also, the silicone covering has that same lovely velvet feel to the surface. Kiki has a slight curve to it. I suppose it’s somewhere in between the straight Starlet and Gigi’s more pronounced bend, but Kiki’s shaft isn’t really long enough to have too much curve. And anyways, this is meant to be a clit toy.

The packaging is more in line with what you would expect for sex toys of this price range. It’s a simple windowed box with Kiki and the PicoBong die (more on that later) attached to a card inside.

Behind the card is where the user’s manual and warranty information is stashed. Sadly, there’s no storage pouch, but Kiki fits nicely in a snack sized ziploc bag, and luckily the packaging is totally recyclable.

Unlike the rechargeable LELO vibes, PicoBongs are battery powered. Kiki takes just a single AAA battery, and unfortunately, the vibrations are disappointing. Perhaps I had unfair expectations, but I assumed these new toys would be comparable in vibration strength to those found in LELO vibes, but Kiki isn’t nearly as powerful as my Siri.

The controls are nice and simple, though. My other LELO vibes have multiple buttons, and I often press the wrong one, resulting in a new pattern when I just wanted to up the speed. With just a + and – button, that’s much less likely to happen. Also, the buttons are integrated (is that the right word?) into the embossed logo on Kiki’s side. Subtle and sleek, I like it.

Just press and hold the + a couple of seconds to turn the power on, and keep pushing it to up the intensity. Press the – button to back off the power, and hold the – to turn the motor off. At the fastest speed of constant vibration, hold the + button for a couple of seconds, and that will take you into the vibration patterns, of which there are many. Push the + button to cycle through them, or press the – button to go back to continuous vibration. Kiki has a total of 12 settings.

  1. Constant vibration mode.
  2. Similar to a busy signal pulse, only longer and slower, with some faint rumblings in between, so it feels almost like a weak constant vibration with a pulse going through it.
  3. A faster and shorter version of the pattern described above.
  4. Shorter, faster pulses.
  5. Very fast short, sharp pulses.
  6. Slow escalating pulse, meaning that it ramps up, pauses, and then ramps up again.
  7. A shorter escalating pulse.
  8. Slow rollercoaster, meaning that the vibration intensity slowly increases and then decreases in a continuous cycle.
  9. A shorter, slightly faster rollercoaster.
  10. Mild escalating pulse followed by two medium pulses.
  11. Escalating pulse then four short pulses.
  12. Random Crazy WTF?! If this vibe made a different kind of noise–or just more noise as it’s so quiet, then I think this setting would sound like music. The pulses vary in length and intensity, but I can’t distinguish a real pattern.

Kiki’s motor is very quiet, which is fantastic and one of the things I love about it, but I’d tolerate a little more noise if it meant more power. Another thing Kiki has going for it is the shape. I really like the flat oval head. It’s effective for clitoral stimulation, and even with Kiki’s discreet size being a limitation, it feels good when the tip is inserted vaginally (no flared base though, so it’s not safe for anal). Also, the top of the tip can be used for more pinpoint stimulation. And because it’s nice and small, Kiki is a handy clit vibe to use in conjunction with insertable toys, as long as you don’t need much power.

Kiki is an adorable little vibe, and I think it’s definitely geared more for the PicoBong target market of young, hip people who are most likely new to the world of sex toys. I say this because there’s definitely a fun and playful approach to the marketing, and weak vibes like Kiki are more for teasing, exploration, and foreplay. But dotards like me need more powerful vibrations, with less surface buzz, to get off.

Oh, yeah. I was going to tell you about the die that came with Kiki. The instruction manual tells you to visit PicoBong.com to learn more. Which I did. Thinking that the die must be for some kind of unique game, I was looking for a list of rules, a printable game board, or something. But all I found was an online game you can play, and the die is a featured element in the game. As far as I can tell, that’s it.

I didn’t include the patterns in the video because the sound didn’t come through and you wouldn’t have been able to hear them anyway.

Rechargeable vibrator with 5 functions and 7 speedsI’m finally going to review the LELO Gigi. I’ve coveted this vibe ever since it hit the market, and I finally picked one up on sale somewhere months ago. But, I had pending reviews for products that I didn’t pay for to finish first, so I only just recently got around to testing this lovely little vibe.

Gigi is a highly effective G-spot sex toy. The head is very similar to a Starlet Toyfriend, only smaller, and the shaft is thinner with more of a curve. I love my Starlet, but I often thought it would be even better with a curved shaft, and Gigi allowed me to test this theory. Turns out, I was right.

The packaging is what you’d expect from LELO. There’s a thin purple box with a photo of the vibe on the back, and inside is the black LELO box with a lift-off lid and Gigi in a molded plastic tray. The charger cable, storage pouch, and owner’s manual are all underneath.

I must admit, I was surprised by how small Gigi is. I think I was expecting something closer to the size of a LELO Iris. However, as we all know, size isn’t everything. While Gigi isn’t going to necessarily give you a full sensation, the curve and shape of the head makes it great for targeting the G-spot.

The insertable portion of Gigi is silicone, and unlike my Iris which had a lot of skin drag and picked up dust and lint like there was no tomorrow, Gigi’s silicone has that lovely velvety surface that seems soft even though the shaft underneath is firm with no give. And the silicone is totally and completely seamless, which is proof it CAN be done. The handle is plastic, with a squishy silicone protective plug attached that keeps the charger hole covered.

The vibrations are controlled by buttons on a click wheel, which is similar to what I had on my Iris, only these buttons are much easier to operate. Simply press and hold the + button to turn the motor on and increase the vibration intensity. Push the – button to decrease the speed, or hold it to turn the power off.

Pressing the up arrow button at the top of the control pad takes you to the next vibration pattern, and pressing the down arrow at the bottom returns you to the previous setting. One thing I love about LELO vibes is that they have the option to increase the intensity of not just the constant vibration, but also the pulses and patterns. Here’s a quick rundown of the different vibration settings:

  • constant vibration
  • busy signal
  • short sharp
  • fast short sharp
  • escalating/revving pulse

Gigi’s motor is very quiet and powerful, with nice rumbly vibrations. Like other LELO products, this one is rechargeable (but not waterproof) and has a travel lock feature. While Gigi is charging, the light around the control wheel lights flashes. When it’s fully charged, around two hours later, the light stays lit. I can usually get a few uses out of one charge.

The light also comes on when you push the control pad, and when the battery starts to get low, the light will be red. I think this is super helpful, because nothing sucks more than not realizing your vibe is low on juice, only to have it run out during use.

Even though it’s firm, which means it’s great for applying pressure to the G-spot, I still enjoy thrusting action with Gigi because it’s not huge and heavy. While not specifically a clitoral vibe, there’s nothing to keep you from using it as such.

In fact, I would personally reach for Gigi over PicoBong’s Kiki even just for clitoral stimulation. The shapes are similar, and while Gigi is bigger, it’s not large enough to make using it during intercourse impossible, especially in rear-entry positions. Plus, it’s way more powerful. Gigi lived up to my expectations and was worth waiting for. Now, if only it was waterproof and had just a tad more girth, it would be perfect.

FixSation Couples Vibrator Sex ToyProducts like vibrating cock rings are often recommended for couples seeking to add novelty and a little something different to their sex lives. Nowadays you can even find them in pharmacies hanging by the condoms and lube. Those are just cheap, single-use cock rings, but they’re readily available, affordable, and for some people a nice introduction to sex toys.

FixSation Couples Vibrator Sex ToyThe trouble with them is, they only work in positions where the woman’s clitoris has a chance of making contact with the vibrating part of the cock ring, such as missionary. Even then, as a man thrusts the vibrating part gets pulled back and often completely loses contact with the woman’s clitoris.

That’s why I personally prefer to use a hand-held vibe on my clit during intercourse over my partner wearing a vibrating cock ring. Unfortunately, that too has its limitations, as it leaves me with only one hand free (or neither hand if I’m using a bullet with a remote). But now there’s an interesting new product available that just might be the ideal solution. It’s called the FixSation, and it’s a totally different kind of panty vibe.

In fact, it’s really more of a strap-on clitoral stimulator than panty vibe, and while ingenious, it’s perfectly logical: Secure the vibrator in place so the woman can receive consistent, hands-free clitoral stimulation during intercourse and while in any sexual position.

The FixSation comes elegantly packaged in a discreet black box. Turn it over, and there are illustrations on the back that give the product away, but it’s all very tastefully done. Inside is a tray holding the vibe, charging cable (yes, this is rechargeable, yay!), and storage bag. The “Panty Companion” is size-specific and packaged separately.

Also inside the box is a card containing the use and care instructions. Pay special attention to the battery charging times. I accidentally left mine charging for longer than twelve hours, and so far everything seems fine, but I don’t want to risk making the same mistake again and frying the vibe’s battery.

The vibe itself is discreetly sized and shaped to fit comfortably between bodies. On the top of the vibe, which is also the male side as it’s on the outside when worn, there’s the control button, FixSation logo, and some slightly raised ridges to add texture. This truly is a couples’ vibrator, as it’s supposed to stimulate him, too. At least while you’re in missionary or some other position that allows the male side of the vibe to come into contact with your partner. It’s obviously not going to do much for him while in doggy or other rear-entry positions.

Underneath, aka the female side, there’s a subtle bulge towards the bottom to target the clitoris and labia, and it also has a some texture in the way of three larger ridges that feel a little more giving than those on the male side. I’m not sure what the FixSation vibe is made out of, but it’s a very lightweight and, according to the product information, phthalates-free medical grade material. To me, the surface feels similar to velvet cote plastic, except the ridges on the female side have that slight give, which makes me think it might be some kind of silicone or similar.
The Panty Companion holds the vibe in place with thin, elastic straps attached to a comfy, stretchy waistband. There’s no crotch or anything to interfere with penetration, which is great since this is meant to be worn during sex, and it really works. Nothing gets in the way.
The straps thread through little channels on either side of the vibe, and then hook onto the back of the waistband. It took me a few tries to get the whole thing assembled correctly, with the right side of the vibe facing up and out, and then putting it on the first time I got the whole thing twisted and tangled and had to start over. But in the end I got it all figured out. To turn the motor on, hold the button for a few seconds. Press the button for one second to change settings (there are three speeds of constant vibration), or push and hold the button for a few seconds to turn the vibe off.

Since the button is located at the top of the male side, it’s easy to find and access when needed, which is important. I’m also impressed by how well the Panty Companion holds the vibe in place. Having never tried anything like this, I wasn’t sure what to expect, and I imagined the panties getting all shifted around and having to frequently readjust the vibe’s position, but it stays put.

Overall, I think this is a brilliant idea, but in my opinion FixSation would be improved with a more powerful motor that also has more variance of vibration intensity between the three speeds. As it is now, the vibrations start out fairly weak, and I can barely distinguish any increase in vibration strength as I move up through the other two speeds.

Also, the shape may not work for those who require more pinpoint clitoral stimulation, and there’s no way to adjust how tight the vibe is strapped to the user. This means I don’t have a completely hands-free experience while using this vibe, as I still need to press it firmly against me so that I can feel the vibrations better. I hope the company decides to make a more powerful version of the FixSation, and maybe even come out with other shape options, but in the meantime, I’ll continue playing around with this one.

Thank you, FixSation for sending me your product to review!
