What’s Inside Wednesday: Pixie Plus

Texturized multispeed multifunction vibrator with suckered clitoral stimulatorVibratex’s Pixie Plus is a rather unique dual stimulation toy. Rather than having a rotating or vibrating shaft, the curved tip moves up and down, similar to a “come hither” motion that many women find effective for stimulating their G-spots. So of course I had to try it. You can read my full review for detailed specs, but basically this sex toy is loud, a nightmare to clean, and takes a bit more warm-up time and work to use than I typically have available to me.

I reviewed this over a year ago, and I’ve subsequently acquired more effective vibes that I like a lot better. That’s why I’ve hardly used it since I finished my review, and I decided that ultimately I didn’t really care if I kept it or not.

Since it’s not made from glass, metal, or silicone, the Pixie Plus isn’t the sort of toy I’d try to pass on to somebody else, and thanks to its size, it takes up quite a bit of storage space. When I culled my sex toy collection, this one unfortunately didn’t make the cut, which is why it’s this week’s What’s Inside Wednesday. Plus, I really wanted to see how the up-and-down mechanism in the shaft was assembled.

Now, one thing I loved about the Pixie Pluswas the bullet, if only because of the awesome textured sleeve with a fun suction cup at the tip. Turns out that sleeve just slips right off and fits other bullets, so I’m keeping it. The bullet itself opened at the seam–not easily, but at least I got this one removed without wrecking it. Next, I cut off the elastomer sheath covering the shaft, intending to keep it as well. I don’t think it’s recyclable anyway, and I figured I could try it out on some of my other toys. I still haven’t done that.

With the sleeve off, the little arm that forms the curved tip and moves up and down is clearly visible, with a little ball bearing (or something) at the end, which I imagine keeps it sliding smoothly against the sleeve. Next I had to take out all the tiny little screws holding it together. This gave me a good look at the dial controls and circuit board, but not being an electrician or engineer, it means nothing to me. But I still think it’s cool to look at.

Taking the shaft apart, I was able to easily get the motor out, which had a stick joined to the top that I could not remove. Attached to the stick was a little plastic disk. Somehow this all connected to the moving tip and created the up and down motion. Or so I reckon, anyway.

So there you have the inner workings of the Pixie Plus. I would be very interested in trying something similar that’s smaller and doesn’t make so much racket because the up-and-down motion of the shaft really was different, and I quite liked the texture. Oh, and I am happy to report that Vibratex sells the bullet sleeves separately for around $10 each. But good luck finding them. I only know they’re available because I saw them at my local porn store the last time I was in there, but I have yet to see them for sale online. Alternatively, you can pick up their Starburst vibe kit, which comes with the Pixie Plus bullet sleeve and a rounded one with longer spikes.

Thanks for sharing this. I have just purchased one of those Rabbit vibes for the missus and have spent a few hours searching the net for images of the innards of such toys. I am a bit of a tinker and like to improve the one that is yet to arrive. I see that the controls on this one you show are just battery wasting resistance type dial knobs with one black square transistors to create a pulse and another to control direction of current/voltage. Plenty of room for improvement and I hope the one I am getting has as much room to add a new electronics board and discard the old one as yours here does :)
…off now to check the rest of your site…thanks again from an Aussie bloke and have a Merry Christmas.
