What’s Inside Wednesday: Power Bumper
As promised, here’s a What’s Inside Wednesday post featuring one of the sex toys I hacked to bits. This week I’m going to show you guys the inner workings of Cal Exotic’s Power Bumper. I originally procured this rabbit vibe from EdenFantasys.com back in June of 2010. It was one of the first sponsored reviews I did for them, and this toy in particular was unlike anything I had tried up to that point thanks to the nubby texture all over the surface.
As I mentioned in my Follow-Up Friday postabout this vibe, I don’t like it anymore, and so it was on the top of the “must go” pile when I recently culled my sex toy collection. I sliced the TPR to get into the shaft, and the sleeve just pulled right off, exposing the inner beads and rotating stick. The plastic cap that made the tip/head wasn’t attached to the top of the stick, so it came off with the TPR. But it was easy to figure out where it belonged.
The shaft motor itself was encased in more plastic, presumably to ensure waterproofness. The shaft on this vibe only rotated at one speed, but you could change the rotation direction. I guess that’s why it needed so many micro gears.
It was about this time in the disassembly process that I noticed some oily residue on the parts, so I put everything on tissue paper to avoid making even more of a mess. By the way, I think THAT was the source of the chemical smell I noticed when I first got this vibe. Lube is important whenever moving parts come into contact with each other, you know.
Getting into the bullet attachment wasn’t so easy. The textured TPR sleeve was the only thing holding the bunny rabbit in place, which was why it could flex backwards, allowing for some adjustability. I tried to pry the bullet open at the seam, but that didn’t work.
Ever a fan of the “if it doesn’t move, hit it with a bigger hammer” philosophy, I headed into the garage with it, but that ended badly.
See, the whole idea here is to recycle/repurpose as much of this stuff as possible, and I know somebody who could put small motors to good use. But not if they’re smashed beyond all hope. Oh, well. At least the shaft motor was salvageable. I just threw away the TPR sleeve, even though for a very brief moment I was tempted to keep part of it as a finger puppet.

I love this! I'd really love to get into the engineering of making sex toys but no one will tell me how! So annoying.
This is very fun. I love that you've "broken in" to the toy and we get to see all the cool mechanical parts. I've been very tempted with some of my toys but haven't had the balls to do it. Kudos to you! I am looking forward to more of this series.
I absolutely love these posts! I haven't yet had the courage to completely dismantle a toy as yet, although I've fixed many a rabbit vibrator in the past!
Like Lucid Obsession, I too am interested in the design side of sex toys so I will eagerly be awaiting these posts each week.
