Glow-in-the-Dark Luv Touch Mini Mite
For several years now my Pocket Rocket Jr has been my most discreet and dependable vibe. I haven’t been taking very good care of it, though. I’m clumsy, so my Pocket Rocket Jr has been dropped numerous times, stepped on more than once, buried underneath a heaving mound of heavier sex toys, and accidentally left in the bathtub. Despite all this abuse, it still keeps running, but both the battery compartment/controller piece and removable cap are cracked to the point where they barely stay on. So, I figured it was time for a replacement.
I saw that Pipedream had a rocket-style vibe that not only is the larger, more standard size, but it’s also covered in that incredibly awesome “Luv Touch” coating that makes hard plastic toys feel so heavenly. But that’s not all! It comes with 4 different textured caps, AND it glows in the dark (well, sort of, but more on that later). Needless to say, I requested a Glow-in-the-Dark Luv Touch Mini Mitefor review, and I am super happy they sent me one.
Like most pocket rockets, this one only has a single speed of constant vibration, but it’s nice and strong, and the 4 different heads offer plenty of variety in stimulation options. There is a smooth rounded cap, one with 6 flat raised circles, some mini spikes that get slightly taller towards the middle of the top, and a piece with fewer-but-taller spikes. Of course, using the Mini Mite with no lid is another option, as the flat head features 3 small metallic balls which also feel nice, and since there’s no cap to soften the vibration, some may find this direct stimulation feels a bit stronger.
Glow-in-the-Dark Luv Touch Mini Mitecomes packaged in a black plastic box, with clear windows revealing the vibe and included attachments. Each piece is held in place by a molded plastic tray, which I kept for storage purposes so the accessories don’t get lost. Everything is covered in that Luv Touch finish, so the surface is as soft as hard plastic can be.
The vibe itself measures around 4 inches long, so while it’s larger than my Pocket Rocket Jr, it’s still a very handy and discreet size. To operate, simply twist the bottom so that the arrow points at the “ON” position. To change the battery, twist it the other way so the arrow points to the word “OPEN” and the cap slides right off. The only downside to this set up is that it’s easy to twist the bottom too far when turning the vibe off, thereby accidentally opening the battery compartment. This one takes a single AA battery, by the way.
The caps are around an inch in diameter, and here are photos of each to give you a better idea of the textures. I love the smooth rounded tip, and the one with flat raised dots gives a nice amount of texture. The small spikes are okay, but I really have to be in the mood for them. I’m not quite so keen on the big spikes, though. At least not on my clit. They may work well for massaging other areas, but to be honest, when I have a rocket-style vibe in my hand, it goes between my legs.
Still, I love that I have so many options. In my experience, the tops aren’t that easy to change during use, especially with any kind of lube on my hands, so I tend to stick with whatever I start out with. Also, this toy didn’t glow in the dark as much as I anticipated. With that neon green color, I thought Mini Might would light up like a glow stick, and sadly, it does not. It does glow in the dark, just not very brightly, so maybe I had unrealistic expectations.
The lights in my house could be insufficient, or perhaps I’m just too impatient, but I left the Mini Mite and all 4 of its pals sitting out on my bathroom counter with the lights on for about 30 minutes, and it barely glowed when I switched off the lights. The next day I left it in direct light for several hours, and it glowed brighter, but the caps glow much more than the vibe. I guess that’s because the plastic is thinner. Either way, it’s handy because you can easily find the attachments in the dark, so they won’t get lost under the covers. You just have to remember to leave them in strong light (for quite some time) before using.
But really, I don’t use sex toys for their illuminating abilities. I use them to get off, and as far as that goes, this one does the job very well. The glow-in-the-dark feature is fun and cool for the novelty value, but what really makes this vibe shine is it’s compact size, nice powerful motor, and interchangeable attachments.
