Rabbit Pearl

Rabbit Pearl Vibrator Sex ToyNot too long ago, I was one of the lucky winners of a Rabbit Pearl in the 4th Blogiversary Contest on Sexuality Happens. I may have mentioned that I love giveaways, and also being a big fan of dual-stimulation vibes, of course I wanted to try a classic. This is the one that was featured on a popular TV show. I’ve actually never seen the show myself, but I’ve heard others talk about it. Anyway, the Rabbit Pearl is made by Vibratex from phthalates-free Elastomer, and mine came from GoodVibes.com, who sponsored this prize in the giveaway.

The packaging is just a thin, clear plastic box, so you can see the toy inside. There is some basic product information printed on the outside, as well as on the back of a paper insert that doubles as the label. Inside, the vibe comes wrapped in plastic. I opted to not keep the box for storage, and instead I just use a gallon-size plastic bag since this material tends to attract dust and lint. While the surface is mostly smooth, there is a wee smiley face on the underside of the head, as well as a few raised nubs along the back of the shaft. Also, there’s quite a bit of skin drag to it.

I already have a Rabbit Habit, which is another rabbit-style vibe from Vibratex, and I love it. The Rabbit Pearl is a bit different, though, in that instead of having the controls located on the base or handle, there is a separate battery pack connected to the vibe via a cord. I actually wasn’t sure how I would like this since it means there’s a wire to get in the way and the vibe requires both hands to operate: one to hold it in place and the other to operate the controls. But on the plus side, you can easily see what you’re doing. Assuming you have the lights on, that is. It’s really no different to using a wired bullet.

There are two slide controls: one for the motor that rotates the shaft, and another for the vibrating bunny-covered bullet. As you can see, the battery pack is nearly as long as the rabbit vibe itself (which measures 8 inches in total length, close to 5 inches of which is insertable). It’s a very lightweight plastic that seems quite flimsy when empty, but it has a more substantial feel once the batteries are installed. By the way, this sex toy takes 3 C batteries, and boy, does that make a difference. My one complaint about the Rabbit Habit (which runs on 3 AA batteries) is that when both motors are running, power in the shaft is compromised quite noticeably. That is not a problem for the Rabbit Pearl.

Another interesting thing to note is that the pearls are loose in the little cavity along the shaft, as opposed to being on a track or fixed to rotating arms. This does give a different sensation, as there seems to be quite a lot of them in there, and they feel very nice moving around. Both motors are powerful, if not the most quiet, and the bunny’s ears are nice and long so they really flap around.

In all honesty, though, I still prefer my Rabbit Habit. It seems to fit me better or something. The Rabbit Pearl, while a perfectly effective dual-stimulation vibe, doesn’t give me the intense kind of orgasm I get with my beloved Rabbit Habit, and I think that’s mostly due to the rabbit ears not quite hitting my clitoris the same way. Also, the pearls are positioned slightly lower down on the shaft, so I’m not getting as much internal stimulation from them. Still, it gets the job done, and I’m glad to have it in my collection.
