Death By Orgasm: The Scorpion
By now I guess it’s pretty obvious that I love giveaways. I’ve had a run of good luck lately and recently received a Scorpion vibe from Good Vibes thanks to the giveaway hosted by screaming-violet.com.
Death By Orgasm: The Scorpion is part of a collection of coffin-tinned bullets, each one with a Halloweenish monster theme. This is the only one that comes with a removable sleeve, so it’s really 2 toys in one as the bullet could also be used on its own. The scorpion sleeve is really cool looking, in a creepy, gnarly kinda way. The legs, tail, and other appendages are a squishy, stretchy elastomer, and they jiggle around quite a lot, which gave me high expectations. As soon as I picked it up all I could think about was how awesome they were going to feel flapping around against me with the vibe’s motor running.
I love how the little coffin tin opens just like a real coffin lid, and on the back is some very basic product info. The bullet takes 3 watch batteries, so thank goodness those are included. I’m always a fan of odd-size batteries being included.
The only thing that seemed a bit of a drawback is cleaning the scorpion sleeve. That’s a bit awkward with the odd textures and appendages. Plus, the holes are small, which makes cleaning and drying the inside rather tricky. But the bullet is waterproof (and smooth), so it’s easy to clean.
Once I got my scorpion all clean and dry and reassembled, I realized that I forgot to remove the tab in the battery compartment. So I took out the little paper disk and screwed the cap back on. I pushed the button, and nothing happened. I pushed and held it for a few seconds, and still nothing. I took the cap off, fiddled around with the batteries, making sure they were all facing the right direction, and tried again. This time, the motor turned on, producing a very weak vibration, but I couldn’t detect any speed change when I pressed the button, and I couldn’t get it to turn off! I had to unscrew the battery cap again.
- 3 speeds of continuous vibration
- short sharp pulses
- a pattern of 2 short pulses followed by a medium pulse
- escalating/rollercoaster
- escalating pulse
While getting a faulty bullet is a bit of a bummer, I don’t consider it a total loss. Conveniently, I have other bullets I can use with the scorpion sleeve. My Solar Bullet happens to fit it nicely, and it doesn’t require any batteries. Sure, it’s corded and lacks the cool pulse patterns, but it’s reliable. Also, and this is a big bonus, the scorpion sleeve really helps to cut down on the Solar Bullet‘s overly buzzy vibrations.
