Black Diamond
Have a look at this rabbit vibe I recently received from Pipedream. It’s called the Black Diamond, and it’s definitely different from other dual-stimulation sex toys I have. This one is not cutesy or a playful bubble-gum pink color. Oh, no. Dressed in black with metal and diamonds, it’s too sophisticated for all that.
Let me do a quick rundown of the specs for those interested. The Black Diamond measures 9 1/2 inches total length, 2 3/4 inches of which is the handle, where the control buttons and some power indicator lights are located. Above the handle is a half-inch band of diamonds and the remaining shaft, of which about 4 inches are insertable. The shaft has a pretty modest girth of around 4 inches. There are 2 motors: the shaft twirls as 3 rows of metal beads rotate, and the attached bullet vibrates. Both motors have independent controls, 3 speeds, and the shaft can also change its rotation direction. All this is powered by 3 AAA batteries.
The material is phthalates-free and squishy like elastomer or TPR, but it’s actually jelly. I’m not a fan of jelly, but I’m glad to know that manufacturers have found a less toxic formula for it. Assuming they’re telling the truth about it being phthalates-free. Either way, I’m sticking with water-based lube with this one. Clean up is pretty easy since this vibe is waterproof. Soap and warm water or toy cleaner will do. Packaging is a thin plastic box, and it could be used for storage, but I keep mine in a plastic bag so it doesn’t come into contact with other sex toys. The Black Diamond has a flat base and can stand up on its own, which is handy since the material is a lint magnet.
This vibe knows what it’s about. The diamonds add a touch of refinement, but at the end of the day, it’s not here for fluffy bunnies, fluttery butterflies, or anything like that. No, the Black Diamond‘s bullet is a beaver. An especially long-tongued beaver at that, so it’s well equipped to do its job. This beaver also has a wee bit of soft, nubby texture under its chin for some added stimulation options.
The tip of the shaft has a ridge underneath, and the back of one side is molded to be somewhat realistically shaped. A fun detail I noticed is a little smiley face on the underside of the tip. It doesn’t really add to the sensation any that I could tell, but it’s a nice touch. Perhaps it’s a token gesture of cuteness, or a smiley tribute to Darth Vader.
As a rabbit vibe, Black Diamond is certainly very effective. The shaft doesn’t seem to lose much, if any, power with the bullet on full speed. The bullet itself has plenty of oomph, and the beaver’s tongue, while not as long as some rabbit ears, is still very flappy. But the really cool thing is the way the shaft can reverse direction on the fly at all 3 speeds. Some rabbit vibes have multi-speed shafts, and some rabbit vibes have shafts that can reverse direction. I love it when a shaft can do both. The Silicone Rabbit Pearl is another vibe that with this ability, but it only has 2 speeds.
Another interesting thing I noticed is how the rotating beads feel more prominent than the plastic pearls in other rabbit vibes I’ve tried. I know this may all be in my mind, but they do feel different to me, in a good way. Having beads that I can distinctly feel going around inside is awesome. Actually, they feel good when used externally as well. I know the beads in a rabbit’s shaft are meant for internal stimulation. But, I discovered that turning the shaft motor on and pressing the rotating beads against my labia, clitoris, and vaginal opening feels pretty dang good, which is great for pre-insertion warm up.
The Black Diamond is a more elegant take on the classic rabbit vibrator. This one is flashy, yet classy. Well, as classy as a jelly rabbit vibe can get, I reckon.
