Ripples Wave Mini Waterproof Vibe

Look what I recently received courtesy of Good Vibes Sex Toys. They sent me a Ripples Waterproof Mini Vibrator to try. This handy little gadget is made by leading adult products manufacturer Doc Johnson, the same company that brought us Pocket Rockets.

The Ripples Mini is a very versatile personal massager. It can be used as an all-over body tickler, a clitoral stimulator, and insertable toy. The small size is discreet, the modest diameter is perfect for beginners or those new to internal vibration, and you can use it just about anywhere since it’s waterproof. The one thing you can’t use it for is anal play since it doesn’t have a flared base.

Made of phthalate-free ABS plastic, Ripples Mini features a soft velvet finish which feels more like high-quality silicone than hard plastic. There is no discernible smell or taste, and unlike TPR, this material doesn’t tend to pick up every little piece of lint within a 3 foot radius, so it’s easy to keep clean. Plus, since it’s made of non-porous plastic and waterproof, just wash it with soap and water or use your favorite toy cleaner.

The wave-like texture gradually adds a slight amount of width towards the base and narrows to a small tip at the top. This gives you variety in stimulation: At the tip the vibration is very targeted, so it’s great for smaller surface areas like the clitoris or nipples. The vibrations can also be felt up and down the shaft, so holding the toy flat against larger areas like along the labia or thigh is also very effective and pleasant. The ripples vary the intensity since where the waves peak, the toy is closer to the skin and the vibration is stronger.

Size-wise, this is a perfect toy for beginners. The diameter only goes up to 3/4 of an inch, with an insertable length of just 3 1/2 inches. So for anyone new to insertable vibes, this is a great one to start with, and it can easily be used during intercourse without getting in the way. The Ripples Mini is also ideal for travel since a contoured travel/storage case is included, making it super discreet and easy to hide.

The vibe is very user-friendly and easy to use. Just twist the simple dial control on bottom of the base, this is also the cap for the battery compartment (one AA, in case you’re wondering). The only thing awkward about this set-up is the tendency to accidentally turn the vibe on every time you tighten the cap, but that’s hardly an issue because you can just twist the dial back to the off position. Instead of having separate, numbered speeds, the vibration remains continuous and twisting the dial clockwise increases the intensity. I love how quiet this massager is. At top speed it does start a high-pitched whine, but unless it’s close to your ears it’s barely audible. While I love the multiple speed option, those who like a lot of power may find this vibe falls a little short. At the highest setting, it’s a little more intense that the single speed of a Pocket Rocket Jr.

All in all, I had a lot of fun testing the Ripples Mini. For around $20 you get a decent quality, battery operated vibe made with body-safe materials that comes with its own storage case.
