Evolved Bliss
The Bliss vibrator, from Evolved Novelties Fleur de Lis line, is comparable in design to Doc Johnson’s Ripples Mini. It’s quite a bit larger, measuring 7 inches long with 5 3/4 inches of insertable length, and around 1 1/2 inches in diameter, but it has the same wavelike shape and velvet surface. This is a great vibe for those who like their Ripples Mini (or similar) and feel ready to try a more substantial toy.
While the Bliss can be used as an all-over body massager, the larger, rounded tip doesn’t give quite the same targeted tickling sensation as the Ripples Mini. It’s more of a general vibration on a wider surface area.
It’s very effective as both a clitoral stimulator and insertable toy, especially for those who enjoy the added texture of wave-like curves. Getting targeted g-spot stimulation was tricky when using this alone because it’s not curved, but that’s when a partner comes in handy. Just don’t use it for any anal play since there’s no flared base. I’d say this is a good choice for beginners or those looking to try something a bit different from the classic vibrator. Vibe Veterans may not find this toy all that exciting, but at such a great price, I think it’s still a fun one to have around.
I’m really beginning to love this velvet-finish plastic material. It’s so low-maintenance! Just clean it with soap and water or your favorite toy cleaner. I store mine in its original box. Plus, this material is phthalate-free, non-porous, velvety soft, and has no discernible smell or taste. There’s minimal surface drag, and lint doesn’t cling to this one. Yes, I am very impressed with it.
The size is ideal for beginners and those who like a modest insertable. The wavy ripples on the shaft are tiered so they increase in girth slightly. This adds extra stimulation, but the curves are gentle enough for those new to textured toys. The design is cute and functional. It’s pretty much a straight-up standard vibe with some shaft bulges. As such, it’s very versatile and practical for times when you’re not sure what all you want to do. For example, if you know you want some g-spot action, you’d grab your favorite g-spot specific toy. Same for dual-action, or clitoral stimulation. Vibes like the Bliss can do all three, but perhaps not quite as well as the toys specifically designed for those areas/functions. At least, that’s how I think of them.
Like the other Evolved vibes I’ve seen, there is a single-button control, located on the battery compartment cap (requiring 2 AA). Pushing it turns the vibe on and switches it through the 3 speeds of continuous vibration. It’s very easy to use. Most of the toy’s power is felt in the top half of the shaft, along the ripples and tip. At the first and second speeds, the vibe is pretty quiet, but it does get loud at the highest speed. The lowest intensity is gentle and great for starting out with, and the other two speeds are more than enough to get the job done.
Also like other Evolved products, the Bliss comes in an adorable metal box with little clasp fasteners. There’s a plastic molded insert to keep the vibe from rattling around. As the top of the box is clear, it’s not necessarily discreet gift packaging, but it’s still very attractive and great for storage. The only instructions included in the box was a diagram showing how to insert the batteries, and a little slip of paper with the company’s website URL. There is more information printed on the back of the box.
I wanted to try the Bliss because I loved the texture on my Ripples Mini but felt like I needed something bigger for insertion. I was not disappointed, but I found the Bliss rather tricky to use for targeted g-spot stimulation during solo play. I usually prefer curved toys for internal stimulation because I find them easier to manipulate. Of course, this is not so much of an issue if you have a willing partner nearby who can take over. Also, I think the Bliss is great for clitoral stimulation during intercourse for rear-entry positions, but it’s a bit bulky to fit in between bodies comfortably.
